Phosphine Ligands
With more than 150 years of experience in phosphorus chemistry, Syensqo leads the way in developing and supplying phosphine ligands for homogeneous catalysis. We partner with customers to address their unique requirements at scale.
Syensqo offers a range of alkyl phosphine ligands and customer-specific formulations for homogeneous catalytic processes, such as chiral hydrogenation, hydroformylation, olefin metathesis and coupling chemistry. Our capabilities extend to the development of mixed ligands, such as those containing nitrogen and phosphorus. We also produce catalysts for processes such as hydrogenation, metathesis and olefin conversion.
Syensqo’s Phosphine Ligands for Homogeneous Catalysis
Homogeneous catalysis is integral to the specialty and fine chemical manufacturing industries. The manufacturing of petrochemicals, flavors and fragrances, agrochemicals and pharmaceuticals is among the many processes for which both chiral and achiral catalyst ligands are employed.
Ligand properties vary significantly, with small differences having a major impact on the yield, selectivity and efficiency of the catalytic reaction. Equipped with our broad portfolio and with phosphorus chemistry expertise supporting new product development, Syensqo delivers the right phosphine ligand to desired quality and purity specifications on time, at virtually any scale.
Syensqo’s ligands exhibit a wide range of benefits, including high thermal stability and a long shelf life. These tunable alkyl phosphine ligands enable Syensqo to address operation-specific catalysis needs. Syensqo’s phosphine ligands for homogeneous catalysis are both liquid and solid products that can be compatible with metals in multiple oxidation states, and their metal complexes exhibit solubility in organic solvents.

Building Blocks for Phosphine Ligands
Syensqo produces primary and secondary alkyl phosphines. These building blocks can be modified by reacting their P-H bonds, resulting in new phosphine ligands with properties tailored to a particular catalytic transformation. Syensqo works with our customers to adapt commercially available building blocks for specific industrial manufacturing processes.
