Diphenylphosphine is widely utilized as an intermediate for the synthesis of organophosphine ligands. These ligands, in turn, are used in homogeneous catalysis for many applications including: asymmetric hydrogenation, coupling chemistry, ethylene oligomerization, hydroformylation, hydration of nitriles, and polymerization of alkenes. RHODAPHOS® Diphenylphosphine is also widely used in the synthesis of intermediates for nutritional, agrochemical and pharmaceutical active ingredients. Copper photosensitizers for light driven production of hydrogen have been made with diphenylphosphine.
