Syensqo’s versatile portfolio of composite materials for launch vehicle components and rocket applications serve a variety of usages and key applications. For solid rocket motors (SRMs) our offerings include materials for rocket motor cases and nozzles. For advanced launch vehicles, our composite solutions are particularly well-suited for primary structures, payload fairings and cryogenic tanks.

Solid Rocket Motor (SRM) Usages

Solid Rocket Motors used for launch vehicles or defense applications require lightweight, high-performance materials that provide both process flexibility and extreme thermal performance. With our carbon, silica and glass fiber reinforced polymer matrix composite materials, we offer enhanced process freedom for in and out-of-autoclave manufacturing with a range of product forms.These high-performance material solutions are capable of withstanding extreme temperatures in the harshest of environments. 

Our CYCOM® series of prepregs are ideal for large composite part manufacturing, like AFP and Towpreg winding for rocket motor cases. Additionally, we offer a range of FM® for bonding various SRM components.
 

Launch Vehicle Usages

The Launch vehicle market faces challenges including the need to develop high-performance and cost competitive payload delivery services for use by commercial satellite operators, defense & security systems and for the advancement of space exploration. Syensqo’s materials for launch vehicles offer a range of processes to allow for cost effective manufacturing with properties for enhanced lightweighting and mechanical performance.

CYCOM® Composite systems are ideal for Automated fiber placement AFP manufacturing of primary structures of the launch vehicle including the cylindrical primary body structure of the launch vehicle that make up the stages and the connecting interstage adaptors. Our CYCOM® family of composites, including CYCOM® 977-2 and CYCOM® 5320-1 have the ability to deliver peak performance in challenging environments for cryogenic tank applications. Additionally, for large payload fairing applications, our CYCOM® and MTM® prepreg products provide excellent process flexibility for out of autoclave part manufacturing.
