People and Communities

Our commitment to people and communities

We invest in people, partners and communities that support our success. That starts with our people: fostering a safe, fair, and inclusive workplace where all employees can thrive. It extends to our suppliers, partners and communities, where we collaborate to build local resilience and generate positive impact.

Putting our people first

Our people are the foundation of our innovation. A safe, fair, and inclusive work environment is not only essential for employee wellbeing, it is a strategic enabler of performance, creativity, and long-term resilience.

We are committed to fostering a culture where every employee feels valued and empowered to contribute. With diverse teams across the globe, we drive innovation by combining different perspectives, skills, and experiences. We invest in targeted training aligned with market trends to keep our people at the forefront of change, and we support local societal initiatives that create shared value across our operations and supply chains.

Prioritizing Safety

Safety is more than a target – it is a mindset. We believe one workplace accident is one too many, and we are actively building a culture where health and safety are integral to every action and decision. From embedding leadership accountability to implementing strict safety rules at every site, we are focused on making sure every employee returns home safely each day. In 2024, we reduced safety incidents by 29%1, with a declared ambition of zero accidents by 2030.2

Embedding Inclusion

We are continuously building a fair and inclusive workplace for all our employees. We foster a welcoming environment that values our differences, and where a diverse group of individuals and experiences influence the trajectory of the business.

Globally, the Syensqo team represents 112 different nationalities. Conscious that inclusion is a continuous journey, we have established a culture of transparency and openness where all employees feel empowered to initiate and engage in conversations around fair and equal pay.

Improving Wellbeing

We believe that fair pay is fundamental to dignity and wellbeing. That is why we are committed to paying all our employees a living wage by 2026, as defined by the Global Living Wage Coalition. In 2024, we assessed over 95% of our workforce and confirmed that no employee was paid below this threshold.3

We invest in targeted learning and upskilling programs to help our people stay ahead of fast-moving market trends, ensuring they are equipped for what comes next and able to grow with the business.

As part of our Syensqo Cares Framework, in 2021, we enhanced our global parental leave policy to 16 weeks for all parents, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, or whether they are adopting. Supporting our people through major life milestones is part of how we build a workplace rooted in fairness, flexibility, and care.

1. Based on Reportable Injury & Illness rate (RIIR): number of reportable injury or illness per 200,000 work hours amongst employees and contractors.
2. Compared to the 2021 baseline.
3. Living Wage calculated based on Wage Indicator Foundation methodology, analysing wages in the 13 countries with the highest number of employees (representing >95% of employees).

At Syensqo, we are driving responsible practices and advancing human rights throughout our value chain, collaborating with partners to create shared accountability.

Responsible partnerships, real impact

Our people-first approach extends to how we do business. We know our efforts create a ripple effect beyond our operations, reaching suppliers, distributors and consumers.

Human Rights

We are deeply committed to business integrity and to the principles that form the foundation of the way we do business, including respecting human rights. In 2024 we established a cross-functional taskforce to advance our human rights due diligence journey and address potential gaps.

Responsible sourcing

We prioritize responsible and sustainable sourcing, ethical production, and transparent communication to create a positive impact throughout our value chain. A key example is our involvement in the Sustainable Guar Initiative, a program set up with L’Oréal and international NGO TechnoServe to empower guar farmers in Bikaner, India with tools and training to cultivate their crops.

The Syensqo Fund

The Syensqo Fund is our philanthropic vehicle to make a lasting positive difference in society. It supports initiatives focused on protecting the planet, nurturing innovation, fostering education, and promoting solidarity.
