Redefining Progress for Defense Applications
Our strong history of delivering high-performance solutions across an increasingly challenging and diverse selection of defense applications has helped us to remain one of the industry’s leading polymer and composite material suppliers. With a robust portfolio of solutions for the defense market, we help OEMs design and produce next-gen aircraft, UAVs and drones, radomes, rotorcraft, sensors, submarines and other naval vessels and ground defense vehicles. CDM operates as the US subsidiary of Syensqo for specific US Defense applications.
Ground Defense Vehicles
Syensqo’s prepregs, adhesives, tooling, and polymers are used in the structural components of military defense vehicles, offering a combination of good mechanical performance, toughness, ballistic protection, and blast protection. These material solutions include Amodel® PPA, CYCOM®, FM®, and much more.
Radomes
A radome is a structural, weatherproof enclosure that protects a radar antenna on an aircraft. The radome is constructed of a material that is transparent to radio waves, allowing the electromagnetic signals to be received by the radar without any distortion. Radomes protect the antenna from weather and conceal electronic antenna equipment from view. Radome component materials made of CYCOM® can be used in structural enclosures and KetaSpire® PEEK helps antenna mounts due to its outstanding strength and electrical conductivity capabilities.
Rotorcraft
The rotorcraft market comprises of defense, utility, maritime, transport, medical, multi-mission and training helicopters. Syensqo’s legacy with high-performance material solutions results in a tailored portfolio of lightweight rotorcraft materials. Discover more.
Sensors
Sensors in defense transportation enable a wide range of detection capabilities across different industry applications. Used for both military and commercial purposes, Syensqo’s polymer portfolio including Torlon® PAI and KetaSpire® PEEK surpasses aerospace industry performance requirements while addressing the need for sensors.
Submarines and other Naval Vessels
From aircraft carriers and defense assault ships to submarines, manufacturers of submarine and naval vessel components require materials with substantial adaptability. Torlon® PAI and KetaSpire® PEEK demonstrate best-in-class performance regarding wear resistance, toughness, and strength.
UAVs and Drones
Uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) are military modes of transport that can be guided autonomously. UAVs are used for surveillance, to carry mission-specific equipment and much more. Materials for UAVs and drone components must be exceptional in quality and processability to allow for optimal performance. Our composites for drones and UAV composites, such as CYCOM® and MTM®, grant enhanced maneuverability and environmental resistance.
