Sealing Solutions for Low and Very Low Temperatures
Our Tecnoflon® FKM portfolio for low-temperature sealing applications includes ionic and peroxide curable grades with a TR10 range from -19°C to -55°C. The material’s ability to retain its flexibility, shape and sealing performance in such extreme environments makes it a reliable choice for long-lasting seals used in deep-sea drilling as well as the highly corrosive, lows-temperature operating conditions found in automotive engine technologies, like liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), compressed natural gas (CNG) and high-performance fuel injection systems.
Why Tecnoflon® Low-Temperature FKMs?
- Retain flexibility, shape and seal strength
down to -60°C - TR10 values from -19°C to -55°C
- Best-in-class chemical resistance (VPL Series)
- Very good processing and compression set
- Proven performance in Automotive,
Oil & Gas and Aerospace

Swelling and Permeability
Volume change (swell) occurs in O-rings, seals, gaskets, etc. when they are exposed to fuel, and the amount of swell is a measure of the material’s fuel resistance. Aromatic hydrocarbons and oxygenated additives can affect the amount of swell of FKM elastomers. Typically, the greater the volume swell, the greater the loss of physical properties and sealing integrity.
The low volume swell of Tecnoflon FKM fluoroelastomers provides excellent retention of properties after fuel immersion. This translates to excellent long-term compression set resistance and retention of sealing characteristics.
