Crops

The most important issues with sunflower seed are the dust that it emits, which can be source of healthy problem for the operator, and which is not environmental-friendly, overall if the seeds are treated, the flowability/plantability of the seeds and their coverage. To cover this, we have developed several seed coatings which perform in dust-control by their adhesion properties. Moreover, our products bring flowability to the seeds, to help for a better sowing, even with sticky recipes. Finally, by several different colours offered by our portfolio, you will be able to mark the different types of seed.

Soybean

In soybean crop, the major issue is nitrogen fixation, which is enabled by nitrogen-fixing bacteria, rhizobia, which enter into symbiosis with the soybean roots, forming nodules where nitrogen exchange can take place from the nitrogen-fixing bacteria to the soybean. In conditions where the bacteria are not present in the soil, they can still be added through seed inoculation and initiate the symbiosis with the developing soybean root to provide the nitrogen needed for growth. It is therefore necessary to take care of the bacteria to obtain this nitrogen transfer.

This is why we have developed a product called Peridiam® Active 319, which act as a seed coating and increases the survival of rhizobium on soybean seeds and increases the number of nodules, the scene of exchanges between the host plant and the bacteria.

In addition to the biological needs identified in certain conditions, other needs arise: dust control to guarantee the safety of the operator and the environment, good seed flow in the seeder, allowing better sowability, and colour in certain cases to mark the different types of seed. This is why in our PeridiamⓇ Quality range we offer different products with different performance properties to meet your needs.

Pulses

Pulses present a very high agronomic interest. They help to recompose the soil structure, prevent the invasion of weeds in the fields, and are able to fix nitrogen, which is essential for all crop growth.

Despite all these benefits, Pulse crop can have different sensibilities according to its type. For example, peas show a high sensibility to deficiencies in Mn, Mo, and in a moderated way, in  B, Cu, Zn.

These are important elements for the development of the plant, as they each have a key role.

  • Manganese is also necessary for many enzymatic activities, including the synthesis of chlorophyll. Mainly due to the presence of insoluble organic matter in the soil, the deficiency is critical for pulse.
  • Molybdenum, whose needs are very limited, is mandatory for nitrate reduction and nitrogen metabolism. The deficiency is increased by the acidity of the soil.
  • A Boron deficiency drastically reduced nodulation, growth and yield of pulses.
  • Copper plays a role in photosynthesis, lignin synthesis, etc. A deficiency can lead to a high sensitivity to stress conditions.
  • Zinc plays an undeniable role in many enzymatic systems, such as photosynthesis, the transformation of sugars into starch, etc. Zinc deficiency is favoured by organic soils, high pH soils, and cold, wet conditions.

To meet these needs, we have developed a range of seed coatings: PeridiamⓇ Active, comprising a mixture of complex of micronutrients applied to the seeds and directly assimilated by the plant. These micronutrients will help the early plant development by providing a necessary reserve in case of stressful conditions (climatic events, poor soil properties etc.). This translates visually into greater root development, which also promotes exchanges in the soil.

Small Vegetable seeds have small volume and can have different shapes: thin, flat, elongated,… which is not practical to sow. In order to facilitate sowing, we have developed a Peridiam range, called Peridiam Certop, which is a multilayer coating. Peridiam Certop is able to increase the volume of the seed by applying several layers of coating, and gives to the seed a round shape. Available in different colours, these products cover the seed perfectly, and perform their coating functions very well (dust control, flowability, sowability, visual appearance, etc.). During the process, it will extract moisture through a simultaneous drying system.

In the Rice crop, deficiencies in certain micronutrients such as Manganese, Zinc, Molybdenum can occur. These are important elements for the development of the plant, as they each have a key role.

  • Manganese is necessary for many enzymatic activities, influences auxin levels in plants, promotes the degradation of indole acetic acid (IAA), which participates in electron transport in photosystem II. Manganese deficiency is very common in upland rice, in degraded soils with high iron content, in H2S accumulation, in acid sandy or acid sulphate soils, in excessive liming of acid soils, etc
  • Zinc: This is the most common micronutrient disorder for rice in wetlands. Essential for cytochrome and nucleotide synthesis, enzyme activation, chlorophyll production, maintenance of membrane activity, and increasing the rate of seed and stem maturation, zinc is an essential element for the plant.

Deficiencies occur in soils with a high pH, high organic matter, calcareous soils with high bicarbonate content, or when the soil is intensively cultivated. Zinc deficiencies are also caused by prolonged flooding of paddy soils.

  • Molybdenum is mandatory for nitrate reduction and nitrogen metabolism. The deficiency is increased by the acidity of the soil.

FOR SOAKED RICE:

Particularly for soaked rice, we have also developed an easy to handle solution, Peridiam Quality 009 which allows the retention of Solvay Seed Care  product to rice seed during soaking.

Pasture seeds are small and present difficulties regarding the sowing density. To respond to it and to be able to use classic driller as cereals one in Australia and in New-Zealand, farmers use encrusting technology for some species as clover, alfalfa for example, and to apply an inoculum. Our product Peridiam® Quality 009 is part of this encrusting technology solution, used for many time in those regions.

In addition to this need, other needs arise: dust control to guarantee the safety of the operator and the environment, a specific colour to mark the different types of seed… Our Peridiam® Quality 009 can be used alone to respond to these needs, like other products in our Quality range.
We also offer with our Peridiam® Active line seed coating products combining seed coating properties and micronutrients inside (as Manganese, Zinc, Magnesium, Molybdenum, Copper) in one ready-to-use formulation to help the plant to have a better early development.

Rapeseed is round and small. The TKW (Thousand Kernel Weight) being only 4, the seeds can present a too fast flow in the seeder, and form irregularities in the sowing by having sometimes several seeds sown at the same time and in the same place. Faced with this irregularity of sowing, an interest is then focused on a new technology: the technology of incrustation. This last one presents the advantage to increase the size of seeds and their TKW, thus allowing a more precise and regular flow. Moreover, the inlay technology allows to incorporate different components of interest, which can be seed treatments, biologics, biostimulants, Biocontrol etc. to bring more benefits to your seeds.

So, to facilitate your rapeseed sowing, we have launched a new range based on encrusting technology: the Peridiam® FlexSpace range, available in several colors.

In addition to the need to better the TKW, other needs arise: dust control to guarantee the safety of the operator and the environment, a specific colour to mark the different types of seed… This is why we propose some Peridiam® Quality line products, to meet the most basic needs in terms of seed coatings with a highest quality.

In the Cotton crop, deficiencies in certain micronutrients such as Zinc & Boron can occur. These are important elements for the development of the plant, as they each have a key role.

  • Zinc plays an undeniable role in many enzymatic systems, such as photosynthesis, the transformation of sugars into starch, etc. Zinc deficiency is favoured by organic soils, high pH soils, and cold, wet conditions.
  • Boron has a Key role in calcium metabolism and DNA/RNA synthesis. Its deficiency is made worse by sandy or calcareous soils, high pH soils and/or cold wet conditions or drought.

This translates visually into greater fresh biomass development at the canopy level.

In addition to the biological needs identified in certain conditions & specific needs related to challenging conditions, other needs arise: dust control to guarantee the safety of the operator and the environment, good seed flow in the seeder, allowing better sowability, and colour in certain cases to mark the different types of seed.

In fact, 3/4 of the world's cotton acreage is from GMO sources with insect and herbicide resistance. It is important to identify  the GMO traits, and this can be done through colour differentiation.

This is why in our Peridiam Quality range we offer different products with different performance properties to meet your needs.
