A Versatile Polar Green Solvent

Rhodiasolv® IRIS is an innovative oxygenated solvent with excellent eco-friendly properties, designed for various industrial applications such as cleaning, resin clean-up, foundry resins, paint stripping, and coatings formulations. This non-toxic, readily biodegradable, non-flammable solvent, considered as a non VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) according to EU directive (2010/75/EU) regarding industrial emissions.

Rhodiasolv® IRIS provides formulators with an eco-friendly solvent that combines cost-effectiveness with environmental respect:

  • Powerful Solution for Cleaning and Stripping: High solvency power for a wide range of resins, oils, greases, and paints, offering a cost-efficient alternative for applications such as resin clean-up, graffiti removal, and paint stripping.
  • Solvency Profile: Similar to ketones (Cyclohexanone, Acetone…) can replace NMP by blending with DMSO
  • Safe to Use: With a high flash point of 98°C and boiling point of 222-224°C, it is non-flammable and allows use over a varied temperature scale. It is easy to handle due to its non-toxic and non-irritant properties.
  • Eco-Friendly Solvent: Biodegradable, non-flammable, and non-toxic, making it a viable alternative to solvents like methylene chloride or NMP (N-Methylpyrrolidone). Not VOC according to Directive 2010/75/EU [Industrial emissions]
  • Sustainable raw material: Rhodiasolv® Polarclean is made from a circular material (co product) from another industry
  • Cost-Efficient Solvent: Evaporates at a lower rate than solvents like acetone, requiring less usage and offering lower flammability.

Applications Examples

Rhodiasolv® IRIS is ideal in:

  • Paints: Paint strippers/graffiti removal, vessel and tank cleaning for resin producers and paint formulators. Alternative to: Methylene chloride, NMP, toluene, xylene.
  • Foundry: Used for cores and molds in phenolic and urethane components (cold box technology). Alternative to: Toluene, xylene, isophorone, DMSO.
  • Industrial Cleaning: Alternative to traditional solvents for cleaning parts, tools, and equipment, including FRP, PU injection molds, and degreasing. Alternatives to: Methylene chloride, acetone, glycol ethers, hydrocarbon & aromatic blends, NMP.
