A Broad Portfolio of E-Drive Solutions

Syensqo offers the industry’s broadest portfolio of e-drive solutions, with a myriad of high-performance thermoplastics, fluoropolymers, fluids and elastomers that can be tailored to meet desired specifications. Many of our polymers for e-drive applications are also available in grades manufactured using 100% renewable energy, as we continue our active pursuit of a sustainable automotive future. These specialty polymers provide e-mobility OEMs with highly advantageous properties to meet the complex demands of advanced e-drive system integration.

  • Tecnoflon® FKM - As a highly resilient synthetic rubber, Tecnoflon® FKM exhibits best-in-class low-temperature flexibility and sealing against low viscosity fluids commonly utilized in e-drive systems. Tecnoflon® FKM is an exceptional choice for demanding sealing applications where resistance to lubricants and greases, property retention at extreme temperatures and good friction and wear resistance are crucial.
  • Fomblin® PFPE - A family of fluorinated lubricants for optimal performance in aggressive environments, Fomblin® PFPE offers excellent lubrication and cooling over a very wide range of operating temperatures. With a wide viscosity range, low evaporation weight loss, low vapor pressure and high-oxygen impact resistance, Fomblin® is well-suited for use in e-drive motor bearings, as these lubricative properties are critical to maintain peak operating conditions throughout system integration trends.
  • KetaSpire® PEEK - With exceptional chemical resistance to organics and very good wear and abrasion resistance, KetaSpire® PEEK friction and wear grades are particularly well-suited for seal rings and thrust bearing components in e-drives. Specifically, KT-820 SL 30 and KT-880 FW30 are designed to deliver a balance of excellent mechanical properties, wear resistance and low coefficient of friction in both dry and externally lubricated applications.
  • Torlon® PAI - The highest performing thermoplastic on the market, Torlon® PAI is widely utilized to replace metal in e-drive components where there are high levels of heat, pressure and friction. With exceptional strength and stiffness, outstanding wear resistance, excellent chemical resistance to automotive fluids and injection moldability, Torlon® PAI is a choice material for seal rings and thrust bearings in electric drivetrains.
  • Amodel® PPA - An extremely high-strength and high-heat PPA, Amodel® PPA maintains its mechanical integrity after thousands of hours at elevated temperatures and in high humidity, which makes it optimal for e-drive applications. Due to its resistance in ATF, dimensional stability and low cost to manufacture, Amodel® PPA is an optimal metal replacement material for solenoids in e-drive transmissions. Additionally, Amodel® PPA is laser weldable, compatible with electrical components and resilient despite exposure to high temperatures or aggressive chemicals, which makes it well-suited for transmission speed sensors in e-drives.
  • Ryton® PPS - A semi-crystalline high-heat polymer with exceptional dimensional stability, Ryton® PPS is an optimal metal-replacement material in e-drive components such as oil pump housings and transmission oil cooling lines. Ryton® PPS exhibits outstanding property retention even after high-temperature exposure, ease of formability and excellent chemical resistance, which allows it to outperform machined metal and rubber in complex e-drive applications.
  • Veradel® PESU - As a tough, amorphous thermoplastic with excellent dimensional stability, Veradel® PESU is a choice material for e-drive transmission speed sensors. This sulfone is available in grades that allow for unique flexibility that take into account both the transmission housing environment and the e-drive assembly process.
