Specialty Materials for Manufacturing Ventilator Components
Syensqo’s medical-grade Udel® PSU, Veradel® PESU, and Radel® PPSU resins are ISO 10993 biocompatible and can be used to produce transparent, sterilizable components, such as connectors, vessels and chambers, that are suitable for patient contact. These polymers are characterized by:
- High strength, durability and impact strength
- Strong resistance to chemical cleaners and disinfectants
- Sterilizable by steam, EtO, hydrogen peroxide and gamma radiation
- Low creep under sustained loads at high temperatures
- Transparent and opaque colors available
Our high-performance polymers, including KetaSpire® PEEK, Ixef® PARA, and Amodel® PPA, have the strength, stiffness and dimensional stability needed for internal structural components and housings for respiratory equipment.
Syensqo's Tecnoflon® PFR FFKM grades are used to produce high performance rubber parts such as O-rings and pistons for medical equipment. Parts made with Tecnoflon® PFR FFKMs provide safe and long-lasting service even when in contact with oxygen gas, alcohols, hydrogen peroxide, chlorine solutions, as well as sterilizing media such as steam, UV or ozone. Finished items such as O-rings are available through our network of partners.
In the current crisis, companies have begun to fabricate dividers so a ventilator can be shared by two or more patients simultaneously. Syensqo’s Solef® PVDF AM filament is one material that could be used to 3D print this application.
Syensqo’s family of Galden® PFPE high-performance, inert, fluorinated fluids is used in the vapor phase process to manufacture high quality, void-free PC boards for respirator controls. Galden® PFPE fluids allow for precise vapor temperatures up to 260°C (500°F) when melting lead-free solder paste.
Syensqo's medical-grade resins, polymers, films and AM filaments are available for PPE and medical equipment:
