The Omnix® HPPA Family
Omnix® HPPA maintains its mechanical properties even after moisture absorption. It is hot-water moldable and can reach a temperature of 90°C.
This material is characterized by high stiffness and strength, very good impact properties, good dimensional stability, and high flow properties. It is an economical alternative for metal replacement in foodservice applications as it meets both European Union and United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations.
One of the main advantages of using Omnix® HPPA is that it uses the same processing equipment used for PA 6.6, the same injection molding machine and tools. It is of course necessary to have the same glass fiber load in order to consider shrinkage levels, but the result is a product with higher performance than PA 6.6 with a similar or even lower cost.
Processing
For standard grades of Omnix® HPPA, melt temperatures range from 285 to 305 °C (545 to 580 °F), and mold temperatures range from 80 to 120 °C (175 °F). There are only minor variations in part dimensions as the material’s shrinkage and flow properties are similar to that of PA 6.6.
