In the automotive market, Xydar® LCP has a long history of operating at high temperatures in applications such as lighting, sensors, and connectors. LCPs are well suited for lighting systems in components such as lamp sockets, fog lamp bezels, and reflectors. Xydar® LCP can operate at 240°C (464°F) while providing excellent dimensional stability and resist outgassing in lighting systems. The increased use of automotive electrification also requires the use of LCPs in electrical components such as sensors, solenoids, and connectors. With the ability to be molded into thin-walled parts, Xydar® LCP is well suited for the trend in miniaturization. Combining superior electrical properties with thermal performance, Xydar® LCP enables greater copper slot fill in motor applications which improves the performance of the motor, while also providing the opportunity to downsize the motor thereby increasing packaging space.
