Syensqo & Climate Impulse: A Vision for Sustainable Aviation
Syensqo’s role in the Climate Impulse project builds on a legacy decades in the making. Solvay - from which Syensqo is derived - was the first technological partner to team up with Bertrand Piccard over 20 years ago for the Solar Impulse project, where we provided the technological edge that made his record-breaking solar-powered flight possible.
Nearly a century before that, we stood by Piccard’s grandfather, Auguste, during his pioneering stratospheric flight in 1927. So you see, for us this isn’t just a collaboration; it’s the next chapter in an ongoing story of reimagining the limits of what’s possible as explorers dedicated to making net zero aviation a reality.
Alongside Syensqo, Climate Impulse benefits from the technical expertise of UM6P and OCP Group, whose role is critical in meeting the complex demands of this project. By incorporating hydrogen combustion and fuel cells, and focusing on green hydrogen, we’re collectively driving aviation toward a more sustainable future.
This partnership isn’t just about science; it’s a commitment to decarbonizing aviation and advancing climate-friendly technology!
We want to give an impulse to climate action, to show that nothing is impossible.
We have a 160-year legacy of pushing the limits of science for the benefit of society. We’ve always believed in Bertrand Piccard’s dreams and want to make them true.
The Climate Impulse project is a pioneering effort in the context of the need for technological development to contribute to decarbonization solutions. We are proud to contribute to this project, which concretely demonstrates the opportunities to move towards a decarbonized economy based on green hydrogen.
This collaboration is a unique opportunity for our researchers and students to work on pioneering solutions to climate challenges. We are determined to play a key role in promoting sustainability through innovation and research.
