Rheomer® SC Plus is a patented liquid polymer with elevated rheology and emulsification benefits that also delivers excellent SPF boosting when formulated with organic or a combination of organic and inorganic UV filters. In-vivo studies show that the use of Rheomer® SC Plus increases SPF by as much as 2.5 times the estimated SPF value, thus enabling the formulation of high SPF products with a lower dosage of sunscreens.

What Are The Main Attributes of Rheomer® SC Plus?
Rheomer® SC Plus is excellent for use in sun care products containing organic UV filters (oil and water soluble) and combination organic and inorganic UV filters.
It is also ideal for multi-functional or multi-benefit skin care products containing particulates (e.g. pigments) and electrolytes, such as BB or CC creams, daily wear products with UV protection and skin care benefits and low viscosity o/w formulations like milks or sprays for body, skin and sun care.

Boosts the SPF of Suncare Formulations
Rheomer® SC-Plus demonstrates excellent SPF boosting performance. This polymer works exceptionally well in formulations containing oil-soluble and water-soluble chemical UV filters, where it also functions as the only emulsifier and emulsion stabilizer required. However, in systems containing chemical and physical UV filters, it is recommended to include a traditional emulsifier in addition to Rheomer® SC-Plus for optimum stability and performance.
Not all Acrylates/Beheneth-25 Methacrylate Copolymers perform the same : the unique structure of Rheomer® SC Plus , based on proprietary associative monomers, gives it a distinctive level of boosting performance in sun care formulations that is far superior to any other Acrylates/Beheneth-25 Methacrylate Copolymer.
A Unique Sensory Experience
During the rub-out phase, testers found that the Rheomer® SC Plus formulation was absorbed faster. In terms of after feel, testers found the formula with Rheomer® SC Plus to be significantly less tacky and left less residue on the skin. The formula with Rheomer® SC Plus was also rated as giving more gloss to skin. (Figure 4)
15 consumers participated in a blind test about the sensory attributes of an SPF 50 product containing Rheomer® SC Plus (Formulation SC-16-065, available above in figure 1, SPF + 46) vs a conventional SPF 50 product from the marketplace without Rheomer® SC Plus.

Yield value is typically used as an indication of a polymer’s ability to suspend particles. The higher the yield value, the better the suspending ability. Rheomer® SC-Plus exhibits concentration-dependent yield values which are enough to provide
suspension to a variety of materials.
