Sustainable renewable feedstocks by regrowing, recapturing, and recycling CO2
To effectively address climate change and achieve global Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission reductions, the continuous introduction of fossil carbon from the ground into our system must be reduced as rapidly and extensively as possible. It is therefore necessary to avoid or substitute the use of any additional fossil carbon from the geosphere with sustainable renewable carbon sources: sources that can be regrown from components of the biosphere, recaptured from CO2 emitted into the atmosphere or recycled from materials made from the technosphere. With the aim of accelerating the use of sustainable and renewable feedstocks to develop more environmentally friendly, natural and circular products, Syensqo's comprehensive carbon management strategy covers all sources of renewable carbon.
Creating sustainable renewable carbon for our customers
Syensqo is not only working on renewable carbon but also on fully understanding what sustainable renewable carbon really means from the origin of the raw material, throughout its manufacturing process, and to the end of its life. We use the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA methodology) as a compass to monitor the environmental impact of our feedstock alternatives. This allows us to consider the sustainability performance of our solutions in a holistically and mitigate any impact transfer.
Syensqo's initiatives to accelerate the development of renewable carbon-based products
Bio- and recycled-based solutions
Syensqo's bio- and recycling solutions portfolio consists of products such as Rhovanil® Natural, a natural alternative to synthetic vanillin, and Naternal™, a series of native, nonionic, cationic and hydroxypropyl-modified natural guar polymers derived from renewable resources. Amodel® Bios is our new partially bio-sourced long-chain PPA made from non-food competing biomass and produced using 100% renewable electricity. As we continue to increase the sustainable value of our materials through the implementation of innovative technology, we have developed a new recycling-based Omnix® HPPA with a minimum of 33% recycled content.
Syensqo contributes to renewable carbon chemistry across many markets
The portion of bio and recycling based solutions is on the rise in Syensqo as we continue to develop our sustainable product range while maintaining excellent technical performance, from consumer goods to agriculture & feed and from food to automotive.
