CYANEX® 936P is a phosphorus-based extractant specifically formulated for lithium (Li). It selectively forms a complex with Li at any Li concentration. Li+ (aq) + RH (org) ↔ RLi (org) + H+ (aq)
CYANEX® 936P works on any lithium stream exempt of divalent ions. It can be applied to salar brines after removal of Mg2+ and Ca2+ via filtration or precipitation, or to recover Li from spent solutions from the recycling of EV batteries for example.
CYANEX® 936P is the approved and recommended reagent for Tenova Advanced Technologies’ LiSX™ process.
