Syensqo’s Changshu and Shanghai sites obtain ISCC-PLUS accreditation

Share to

Mass balance certified ECHO products now available from Syensqo production sites in three regions worldwide

Syensqo, a leading global provider of high-performance materials and chemical solutions, has obtained third-party accreditation for the production of its ECHO portfolio of products at its Changshu and Shanghai facilities, under the strict mass balance chain of custody outlined by the International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC-PLUS) standard.

This certification in Asia extends Syensqo’s geographic presence and covers a variety of product families within the company’s ECHO portfolio. These include its UdelⓇ PSU polysulfones, RadelⓇPPSU polyphenylsulfones, RytonⓇ PPS polyphenylene sulfides, and AvaSpireⓇ PAEK polyaryletherketones, which are now all available at both Chinese sites and produced with certified circular feedstocks attributed by mass balance.

This is a step change for our customers in Asia, where we see a growing demand for our circular ECHO products. Moreover, it positions us as a key player in the industry that can offer ISCC-PLUS certified high-performance polymers worldwide from locations in the three main regions of the Americas, Europe, and Asia, enabling more sustainable- and circular-driven value chains across our markets globally.

Dr. Bianca Shemper, Sustainable Sourcing Manager at Syensqo’s Specialty Polymers

Syensqo continues to expand its ECHO portfolio of high-performance solutions engineered with bio-based, recycled, and mass balance third-party certified raw materials to support customers’ ambitious goals towards decarbonization and a future that is less reliant on fossil resources. Engineered with verified alternative sources, these products provide high-quality drop-in replacements for all-fossil counterparts, with no compromise on performance. The company’s ECHO portfolio is increasingly in demand for use in advanced electronic devices, consumer goods, automotive components and environmental applications.

With Changshu and Shanghai, Syensqo has increased its number of externally-certified polymer production sites, which already includes Augusta (Georgia), Borger (Texas), Marietta (Ohio) and Kallo-Beveren (Belgium). Its Changshu facility has also been accredited to supply high-performance polyamides OmnixⓇ and KalixⓇ (HPPA) and polyarylamides IxefⓇ (PARA) from the company’s ECHO portfolio since 2024, with recycled content validated by the widely-recognized Underwriters Laboratories (UL), in accordance with the UL Environmental Claim Validation.
