Syensqo, a science company, is the proud sponsor of the eye-opening documentary ‘2050’, referring to the symbolic tipping year for our planet. The documentary takes viewers to the heart of Antarctica with an ambitious objective: using decades of scientific expertise to provide clear and irrefutable answers to climate questions and inspire all generations to urgently act to preserve our planet.
Through the lens of award-winning documentary maker Eric Goens, viewers are taken on a captivating expedition to Princess Elisabeth station, Antarctica’s first zero-emission station, and a beacon of science thanks to its modern research center. The documentary features Alain Hubert, founder of the International Polar Foundation, and other renowned scientists, who take us into the heart of the world's southernmost continent, exploring its significance as the ultimate gauge of our planet's health, and fragility.
Antarctica is a place that is dedicated to science and it is the barometer of our planet: what happens there impacts the whole world. With this documentary, we want to open everyone's eyes to the effects of global warming and issue a call to action.
Exactly 125 years ago, the Belgian explorer Adrien de Gerlache embarked on a pioneering scientific expedition to Antarctica with the support of, among others, our founder Ernest Solvay. At Syensqo today, we are explorers committed to protect our planet and we want to support scientific research as well as education on global warming.
The documentary premiered at the Ostend Film Festival, where it was warmly received and ranked among the festival’s Top 10. Its official cinema release is set for March 5th. The project also includes an educational outreach program designed to engage students and communities around the globe on the importance of preserving our planet.
