We are looking for:

 

The Maintenance Mechanic needs to be proficient in the use of general plant equipment, including but not limited to: boilers / deaerators, air compressors, water softeners, water dealkalizers, cooling towers, Perform general facility maintenance, including but not limited to snow removal, lawn and tree care, painting, air and water filter replacement, light bulb replacement, piping and equipment demolition, and general laborer work including housekeeping activities.

 

 

We count on you for:

 

  • Perform periodic plant inspections, including but not limited to: eye wash & safety showers, emergency exit light and sign testing, and other miscellaneous safety inspections 3.  Perform basic mechanical work, including but not limited to: strainer / filter cleaning, repair and replacement of valves / piping “in kind”, hose and hose reel repairs, resetting circuit breakers, pipeline and vessel gasket replacement following applicable specifications, replace rupture disks
  • Perform threaded piping system installation and repairs following applicable specifications.
  • Preform rotating equipment repairs including but not limited to centrifugal, gear, lobe and AOD pumps.
  • Perform work to free blockages within closed systems, e.g. salt hoppers or plugged waste lines. 
  • Perform demolition work on pipe and equipment that has been taken out of service.
  • Operate company vehicles while picking up supplies off site.
  • Operate forklift trucks in a safe manner.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks, including but not limited to: pump lubrication, routine fluid checks, heat transfer equipment descaling (i.e. Ryd-Lyming).
  • Lift and rig equipment and piping.
  • Operate fork lift to transport work or maneuver equipment as necessary.
  • Operate man lift or ladder to safely position self at a height to complete a task.
  • Assist in stores keeping, as necessary.
  • Monitor and maintain water treatment chemistry of boiler feed water system, boilers, cooling towers, and Chlorine dioxide system within desired control ranges.  Proactively monitors condition of associated equipment to maintain the highest level of operational availability (reliability).
  • Assist in maintaining correct MRO inventory control by signing out material used in jobs.
  • Assist in the MRO store room by receiving goods, notifying requisitioner, staging materials, stocking shelves, and maintaining housekeeping.
  • Assist production department with drumming assignments if no production employees are available (assignment is determined by Maintenance Department seniority).
  • Assist craftspeople (Solvay or contract) to successfully complete assigned tasks.
  • Capable of interpreting and following piping specifications and P&ID’s.

  • The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is  ($33.72 per hour). Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
